memories...

i was waiting for the children to be done looking at toys the other day in target.... (run on sentence).... when i came across this....

oh how i loved this barbie. i loved the smooth top of her dress and the flowy beautiful peach skirt. and that necklace. then all of these memories came flooding back of all my beloved barbies i treasured when i was 7. i might have then gone home and spent some quality time looking up images of other popular barbies from the 80's...
mother, i would just like to say thank you. apparently, i had all of the "had to have" barbies from 1985.

there was Loving You barbie, with the red velvet hearts on her skirt.... Malibu barbie, Dream Glow barbie (loved her), Crystal barbie, her white crispy dress... soo pretty, my Irish maiden barbie.....

oh those were the days.

D's big day

my poor baby.
i don't know why these things always happen to her...but, we had our first broken bone/cast experience with this little one today.

last night, she had fallen off a chair in the backyard and the only indicator that it might be more serious than any other old fall, is that she would not stop crying. we got her all cleaned up, no swelling, some tylenol, and she finally calmed down a little bit. but then she would start up again saying her arm hurt really bad. well, with it being sunday evening, our options were slightly limited. luckily, we have 2 awesome neighbors that happen to also be orthopaedic surgeons. they checked it out and recommended to have x-rays done in the morning. she was so tired from the whole ordeal that she crashed out early. well, she was up several times in the middle of the night, complaining of the pain in her arm.

so, in the morning, awesome dr. d got her in right away. her arm was limp and she would carry it around with her other hand. so sad.

here she is, not sure about what's happening, but excited to be with just mommy and daddy :)
having the x-ray done. she was really not into this. she was starting to get really nervous, but refused to cry in front of anyone but us.
she cheered up a little when she got to select some scratch and sniff stickers.
the arm.....
worried......
the result: a fractured radius.
dr. d showing us all exactly what was fractured....
the prognosis: a full arm cast for 3 weeks. she selected pink.

keeping the arm at a 90 degree angle.
some wet stuff...
D.... seriously irritated.
almost done!!!!
yeah! it's done.
D was getting a little claustrophobic... she wanted to straighten her arm.
she said "take it off!"
good job dr. d! she will be thankful after she gets used to the idea.
cheering up again, after we left and said she could go wherever she wants for a sweet. we ate some lunch and headed over to a.j.'s for cookies. it was really traumatic for me too..... so i got a decaf mocha and a chocolate cupcake (for the baby).
a big hug from daddy will make it all better....
and a customized cookie, balloons, and a card... all from the most loving and caring family and neighbors ever.

funny baby questions/comments

1. "mom, does the baby have clothes on inside your tummy?"
"no"
"you mean it's naked then?"
"yes"

"hehehehehhe" followed by about 5 min. of giggling.

2. when driving home from a doctor's appt.....
"mom, is the baby sitting on your lap inside your tummy?"
"yes"
"is there a car seat in there then?"

3. "mom, is the baby wearing shoes?"

4. all of the girls talking and giggling together....

"mom, we are never having babies."
"why?"
"because you have to poop them out... ewwww... hehehehehhehe"

5. "mom, can you please make sure that the baby is a girl?"
"why?"
"cuz i bet someone $100 that it would be a girl and i really don't want to lose."

6. "does the baby poop in your tummy?"

7. " mom, if the baby is a boy, will it have a peanut?"

spring break 2010

spring break went by too fast. it was nice to have the kids home and not be on such a schedule.

we stayed pretty busy anyhow tho....

here we are at the irish faire in downtown phoenix. the big girls marched in the st. patrick's day parade and had their very first irish step dancing performance.

S was being very naughty and would not scoot back from the bigger dancers. as you can see, they randomly kicked out their legs. we told S she could get kicked, but i think she enjoyed the thrill. she came out of it safe and sound.
here is L working hard.... i liked to watch them mouthing out the counts.
it was hard for them to keep their hands down so they just kept them in their pockets.
gillies!!!
towards the end of the parade....
baby bump.... 32 weeks
irish fire truck?

these 2 started ice skating lessons. they mentioned it to daddy and he is completely in charge of it. he took them down, got them registered, sat thru both lessons. it is quite impressive. their registration includes free skate at open skating time and several buddy passes. so last saturday we spent ALL MORNING at the skating rink. it was interesting to say the least. but the kids love it and i am not in charge so... it works for me.
we also went to my brother's 30th 80's rocker birthday party. well, his 30th birthday... not his 30th rocker birthday party. that theme might get old after 30 parties.
it was pretty hilarious.

p dubs needed to go to yuma for work, so we all tagged along. the kids had fun swimming at the hotel pool until 10 o'clock and i got to sit in the spa (i checked with the doc and it was cleared...if it's not too hot). when the old people started to stare down at us from their windows, we figured it was time to call it a night.

we figured the beach is only 2 hrs. from yuma, so why not spend the next day at the beach!!
these kids are such beach bums. they could spend days there and not get tired of it. i wouldn't recommend ocean beach tho... it seemed to be the druggie-teenage runaway capital of the world.
trying to body surf...
peace man.
beach babes.
the drive home was sooo long. luckily the kids were so worn out from the beach, that they crashed out the whole way home. we were tired (since we had made this whole vacation happen within 30 hours) but were making pretty good time. we finally got to maricopa and got held up by this train just parked. stopped. right in the middle of the road. we were there for 30 min.!! it was maddening to be that close to home and have to wait for no apparent reason. i was getting very grumpy. when it finally moved, we realized it was stopped at an amtrack station. why they would put the stop so close to the road is beyond me. i think i'll write a letter. a strongly worded one.

it was fun tho. and i guess it counted as a babymoon... even tho i had all my babies with me. oh well, i did get to sit in the spa.
