olive juice

the girls were invited to be in a clothing catalogue... olive juice. check out the online catalogue for some familiar little faces. they were paid in gift certificates (not bad for their first gig) so we had lots of fun going on an online shopping spree :)

the beautiful box arrived the other day.

the clothes are so cute and vintage (which i adore)
my friend (the talented christina lafferty) and i headed out together to take some pics of the kids in their new outfits. i took these pics, but i just love the ones she took. i'll have to get those printed.

she is her father's daughter...

S in her element. enjoying her favorite song dangerous, by YES on her beloved ipod. sitting in her tree perch custom made by daddy. wearing her fav tee with her crazy knee socks and orange flame converse. she is one hip chick... for a 10 yr. old.

lenten reflections

from little S.....

it seems as though whatever little S doesn't feel like eating or doing right at that moment... she says she gave it up for lent. hmmm...

when i asked her what she really gave up for lent, she said telling mommy "no" and fighting with her sisters.... the same as what L gave up. that sounds good to me. i just hope they are aware that we are a couple weeks into lent now.... they can start their lenten promises anytime now.

when talking about homeless people and what we can do to help them.... she said
"you mean like the old grammas at church with no ipods?"
shaking her head with her lip pushed out... "there sure are a lot of those"

peaceful

it's spring break and we have absolutely no plans. this is refreshing to me. it has been such a peaceful day. we have my 2 cousins over for a sleepover. we spent 4.5 hours at the park this morning and now the kids are making posters. of eyeballs. now they want to go swimming. i love spontaneity.

i am getting antsy to do some spring crafts. my new country living came in the mail today and it's got me even more motivated.
i'm thinking 6 matching dresses tonight. hmmm....

post edit:

innocence: one of my children (not saying who) really liked the way her hair air dried after swimming.

she said "mommy, don't you like the way my hair curls like this? it feels good too. it looks so pretty. i just love the way god made me".

so sweet and honest. i wonder at what age we become so critical of ourselves. if an adult would have said that it would have been taken so differently. but for now, i'm glad she feels beautiful inside and out. as my mom always said, it's nice to be beautiful on the outside, but what counts most is that you're beautiful on the inside.

p.m.s.

is it too early for my 4 girls to be p.m.s. ing? the attitude is driving me crazy. i'm sure it will get better from here ;) but really, why can't they just ALWAYS be nice to eachother? they are mostly nice, but i want them to ALWAYS be nice and get along. is that too much to ask?

D turns 6!

i don't know how it's possible, but this little girl of mine turned 6!

she wanted a knocknasheega (camping) themed birthday. so her daddy pulled out the retro pop up trailer, set up a campfire, camping chairs and s'mores. and of course an adorable custom camping themed birthday cake courtesy of aunt sarah.
we had an amazing sunset to top it all off.
she was so happy all night.
pine tree anyone?

springtime :)

these pics were taken a few weeks ago... but you can see the weather is perfect here in az right now. it is the most beautiful day today and pdubs worked in the yard for several hours and i walked out to a little slice of heaven right in my backyard. did i ever tell you how much i enjoy run on sentences?

we found a container for this little one
hangin' in suits and sippin' off the hose.
baxter is getting quite big. he seems to be a nice addition to our family. he already "fetches" which is so amazing to me as our other dog was a husky (RIP koda) and the only trick he did was "run"
the kids like to unknowingly add a "d" to the end of his name. it makes for an entertaining time while listening to them repeatedly call his name.

on another note... this little 3rd grader had an overnight at school. they are preparing for their big trip to camp surf. she was so excited.
we had to say goodbye at the door :( she lugged all those bags by herself.
bye. bye.
