2009 halloween festivities

one evening paully decided to have a hot dog roast in the front yard. now that was my kind of camping. the kids were all clean, we could go inside and wash our hands and best of all we could tuck them all in in their own beds and have a good nights rest. the kids loved this. i guess they like hot dogs, paul bought a package of 8, i didn't eat one and paul didn't get one. they stuffed their little faces. can you tell they don't get them very often?

next we roasted marshmallows on our fancy roaster. it's just not camping without s'mores!! what a great evening.
the next evening we carved pumpkins. for some reason or another, not so fun. the kids were tired, arguing, and no one wanted to get their hands dirty. but they all wanted to be in the exact same spot to watch.

paul did a great job especially since he did not have the proper pumpkin carving tools.

D had her famous school parade. she said before she got there that she was not going to participate. she doesn't like people looking at her. i don't know how that is going to work with her life's dream of being on stage...

she had her head in the basket for awhile. but took it out to walk next to a friend. they had a party in their class, cookies, juice, candy, carving a pumpkin.... lots of fun!
i think p scrubs really likes the new purple wig.
S went over to my talented neighbors house to get some purple fairy make up. it exceeded my expectations. she looked gorgeous!
here's dorothy. she was feeling a little nervous. after she ate 2 plates of food, we figured out she was just hungry.

Noni was a witch, but not acting like one because she put all the food together while i was putting the kids together. and my friend sarah brought over my fav hummus and pita chips. thanks guys!

best family pic. i'm a sister wife and pscrubs is a birthday present. most people didn't know i was dressed up, they just thought i was weird. i thought the hair would give it away. don't ask me why i always go for the most unflattering halloween costumes. next year i'm doing something hot!

scary smoking fountain!!! we ended up having a great time trick-or-treating. this was the first year the big kids really liked it. in past years they get tired, get stomach aches and get really weepy half way thru. D was ready to go a little earlier. she went home with olive oil. she said she was done and had enough candy. right after that we spotted a neighbor with only 1 kid on his golf cart! we filled that right up. he took us to the "scary" houses. L got really scared when a mummy with a chain saw came right at her. S was yelling "you're not real!!" the 2 little ones just grabbed their candy and said that it was really "pooky!"

the kids went right to bed and are just now waking up at 9:15!!! what a night!

well, you know how i like to jump at a chance to do something new and interesting....

today i was invited to observe a surgery.

i had to scrub in...

face mask, hair net, scrubs, shoe covers... the whole 9 yards...
i was ready. i wasn't sure if i would get nauseous, but i didn't at all. i found the whole thing very fascinating. it's weird to see the "insides" of bodies.
it was definitely worth waking up extra early for. 6:30 to be exact.

cozy girls weekend!

my generous friend, melissa, lent us her beautiful cabin up in the woods this weekend. so mom, saharah, natalia and myself headed up fri. nite.

natalia invented the apple jager bomb.
large honeycrisp apples at fry's. check them out... the size is impressive.
yummy breakfast.


time for a little hike. the leaves were changing, the air was crisp and cool. it didn't even feel like AZ!
p.s. thanks tooper (10 yr. old son of melissa) for lending me your vest. i couldn't zip it up, but i didn't want to take it off either.



the rest of the time we just snuggled up on the couch and watched movies. it was fun to lounge the day away.

why? might you ask. pdubs is usually a nice guy, but why cater to her every food whim? why go to the store at 10pm because i really wanted some cream of wheat? why no complaints when i make myself a fried egg sandwich while he is making dinner? well, any guesses????

pink photo fun...

i took the angels to globe during fall break. p dubs had to go for work, so we thought we would tag along. it's kind of a run down town, but that means lots of old run down walls... perfect for photos!!! some dear friends brought these dresses back from ireland for the girls. i stalked their daughter one time at church. i said where did you get that dress? it's the perfect little girl dress!! she said they got it in ireland. i said oh. :( well next time you go, if you see anything like that... please pick up 4 for me!!! she said ok. well, little did i think i would ever get such cute dresses. but...they did go back to ireland... they did find 4 dresses in the perfect sizes.... and they did carry them all the way back to the states for me!!! yeah!! i love these dresses!!! and so do the girls! THANK YOU!!!!!!




we had some yummy mexican food in globe. love those reyenoso's!!! i found out there is another good place a friends family owns called burger house. i'll have to check that out next time.

STATE FAIR

today i took the girls to the state fair. it was dollar day, so it only cost us $3 to get in. $20 in tickets and $10 for cotton candy, a carmel apple and a slushie. i am exhausted. i think the kids liked it. no pictures were taken.

as we were pulling up tp the fair, the kids were oohing and ahhing at the ferris wheel and the other light-up rides...

D's first comment was... "did you bring the wipes?"

lovely weekend...

what a great weekend we had. at first i was a little bummed because paul was going camping again. he took D and L, so i was happy that they got to go, but i still was sad that we weren't all going to be together. but we ended up having a ton of fun. first, S babysat little S so that i could do a photo shoot of this awesome family...

S did such a great job babysitting that i treated them to dinner and ice cream afterwards. we went to rula bula and had some irish food ( S likes to go there because her picture is on their to go menu from when she was 2 yrs.old) so after we ate we walked over to the cookies ice cream store and enjoyed some ice cream sandwiches. the kids get to pick the flavor of cookie and ice cream so it's a win win for all. well, outside of the store there happened to be some kind of motorcycle-snake group hanging out. i thought we could just slide by. but oh no. S had to make a fuss over the snakes. she loves all things creepy and crawly. the guys let her hold one of the snakes. she was begging me to buy one. no thank you. it was pretty dark so i couldn't get a good picture, but she was delighted. the snake wrapped itself all the way around her little body.
so the next morning we got some housework done. stayed home and relaxed. and then met some our our most favorite girls at a pumpkin patch!
we went on hayrides, picked a pumpkin, decorated the pumpkin and just let the kids play. it was a nice day. i started to get a little freaked out around the animals and lack of soap and warm water, but that's my own deal. the kids really liked looking at the pigs and goats and cows. some of the goats were really interesting and causing lots of questions about body parts.

i had a great little helper helping me find broken stems for more pumpkin decorations!!! that was exciting.


later that night, dad came home with the other girls and we met at at friends house and had a really yummy mexican dinner. a perfect end to a perfect weekend.

shar shar binks

the girls were begging to do a photo shoot with the cat. you know the love/hate relationship i have with the cat, so i kindly passed the job onto Paul. i said the famous phrase... "go ask daddy" and of course he was so grateful that i did. i think the pics came out pretty cute. D sure loves that cat. and strangely enough the cat is pretty crazy about her too.

octoberfest

P dubs took the girls to octoberfest. he couldn't manage to talk the big girls into wearing their liederhosen. and at the last minute D ripped hers off as well. so they all headed out and only S went in costume.

homo erectus

S has been working very hard on her homo erectus report. this is her cave complete with prehistoric chairs and a camp fire. she got online and wrote out note cards about her research. great job s!!!!

did i tell you little S got a haircut? little critter no more.

was it worth it?

was it worth it? to get a sitter, go out and come home to dvds spread all over the floor and a dried egg yolk in the middle of the living room?

the answer is yes. it was worth it.

our lady of naughtiness...

little S has started her very first atrium class this year. it has been really sweet hearing her sing some of the songs and have a general interest in anything she sees that is somewhat religious. however.... the girls have this really bad habit of carrying around toys whenever we go somewhere. they get to pick one little toy to carry and it's always a big ordeal since they usually want what the other one has. once everything is smoothed out we can be on our way and they are happy to carry their prized possession for the moment. well, S found a little statue of Mary that she wanted to carry around. i thought it was so sweet and i was so proud that she was having a little religious moment. she seemed so angelic carrying it around. well..... as you can imagine i was so surprised when i overheard what S was saying in her high pitched pretend voice...

"Mary doesn't like clouds, she hates clouds (she also has a really bad habit forming with that word at the present moment)" then she made a very quiet soft spitting noise. apparently Mary didn't like a lot of things that day and wanted to pretend spit on anything we walked past. i took away the statue and told her she needed to say nice things to people. she begged for it back later in the car and i let her have it as long as she was being respectful. she took it to noni's, she held it tightly in her hand in the car, and spent the rest of the day with it. later that afternoon, my awesome neighbor wanted to have a play date with S, so i dropped her off. she called me 10 min. later and said S was upset because she forgot something but she couldn't quite make out what she was saying. i swallowed, and had to explain that she was missing her statue. i think i confirmed to her that we are completely nuts over here.

hmmm...

little L came home from school the other day very excited to "perform" her new songs she's been learning from her friend at recess. i agreed to sit down and listen. she's really cute when she sings, her nostrils flare out and she kind of slurs the words together a little bit, i think she thinks it sounds cool. anyway, she starts to sing a taylor swift song (fine) another song i couldn't identify about love (ok) then a song about being in college and oh that boy wants that girl... ( really not fine) i said, wow L. that doesn't sound like the kind of song we listen to and also it doesn't seem that appropriate for a second grader. she said yeah, i'll just sing the first one then. i said ok. she said i taught my friend 3 songs too. wanna hear 'em? ok....
